Grooming Standards

NJROTC cadets are required to maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance while in uniform. Grooming standards are based on U.S. Navy and NJROTC regulations and are designed to promote discipline, uniformity, safety, and pride in the unit. These standards apply during NJROTC classes, activities, inspections, and official events.

Cadets are responsible for knowing and following all grooming requirements.

General Appearance Standards

All cadets must:

  • Maintain good personal hygiene

  • Wear uniforms that are clean, pressed, and properly fitted

  • Ensure grooming does not detract from a professional military appearance

  • Meet grooming standards whenever in uniform or representing the unit

Extreme, distracting, or unsafe styles are not permitted while in uniform.
